Wargames Illustrated 450 – June 2025

Team WI had a blast at Salute 52, and I hear many of you did, too. There was certainly a lot of us there – over 9,000 people through the door, apparently – a record attendance! This year, for the first time, Wargames Illustrated sponsored the display games, and although Salute is evolving into something more than just a shopping and demo-table event, display games – in all their various shapes and sizes – are still our favourite attraction at the show. So, it was more than fitting that we sponsored the games and presented the trophies to the best in each category. In our show report (page 68) you can indulge in our extensive coverage of the best games from Salute, and below you can see (most of) the winners receiving their awards.
Away from this month’s Salute coverage, I hope you will enjoy our Folklore theme. We’ve included both the predictable (Robin Hood and his Merry Men) and the less so (Folklore in the American Civil War), to intrigue and inspire.
