Raketenjagdpanzer Zug
(TGBX21)
The Raketenjagdpanzer 2 (rocket hunting tank 2) tank-hunter was introduced in 1967 and is equipped with Nord SS.11 wire-guided anti-tank missile. It was developed at the same time as the Kanonenjagdpanzer tank-hunter and shares a similar chassis with it.
The Raketenjagdpanzer 2 armed with two launch rails for the Nord SS.11 anti-tank guided missile, and two MG3 machine-guns. The Raketenjagdpanzer 2 carried a total of 14 missiles, twelve of which were stored in the vehicle, while the remaining two were carried on the launch rails on the right and left behind the driver and commander respectively.
The Raketenjagdpanzer 2 was primarily intended to fight tanks at distances between 1500 and 4000 metres, as the range and accuracy of the guns of the Kanonenjagdpanzer and main battle tanks were either not available at these distances or were inferior to the guided missile.
