Morris AA Tractor (x2)
(BR279)
The Morris CDSW Bofors Tractor (CDSW = C - for model (first introduced 1933), D - for rear Double Axle, S - Six Cylinder Engine and W - Winch fitted) was a development of the CDSW line of Morris Commercial 6 wheel vehicles, which started with the D type in 1926.
The first CDSW was made in 1935 and was designed to tow field guns. It would have been an 18 pounder or a 4.5 Howitzer, but as the Quad artillery tractor was introduced the CDSW was phased out.
In 1938 it was decided to develop a Morris CDSW version as a light anti-aircraft tractor to tow the 40mm Bofors gun.
The Morris CDSW tractors were actually built by Austin (6686 units) between 1940-44 and Wolseley (almost 6000) between 1939-42.
Although the Field Artillery Tractor version of the CDSW had been replaced in 1939 by the Quad Artillery tractor, a large number went out with the BEF to France in September 1939. The majority were lost at Dunkirk.
The Morris CDSW Bofors Tractor was used in the desert campaigns by both 1st and 8th Army and in North West Europe 1944-45.

On occasion you may wish to move your Bofors about, these guys come in very handy. They can also be used to tow your artillery in an early war British force.
