Mounted on ponderous but rugged tracks, each Thunderfire Cannon is a quad-barrelled gun capable of a punishing rate of fire. The Techmarine manning a Thunderfire Cannon can set its shells to detonate in a variety of different ways, depending on the tactical situation. Surface detonations are employed against numerous enemies in comparatively clear terrain, while airburst shells are used to scour a foe from cover. The most devastating barrage, however, is one programmed to burrow deep into the ground before detonating - the resulting shockwave is often sufficient to knock the foe sprawling, making them easy prey for other weaponry.

A four-barrelled cannon that fires massive high explosive shells at the enemy - what's not to like about that? The Thunderfire Cannon is a great way to thin out the ranks of an enemy horde, so if your opponents use lots of lightly armoured troops then this is the weapon for you.
