There can be few more characterful people than the ancient Britons. With their trademark spikey limed hair, magnificently droopy moustaches and painted with woad battle-markings they were as colourful and they were ferocious.

A fiercely proud people from what is now Romania, they fought two great wars with Rome – wars so bloody and hard fought that they were portrayed forever in stone on Trajan's column.

There were few ancient peoples who were able to challenge the might of Rome, but the fierce Dacians, hailing from what is largely modern Romania, were one of the exceptions. Fighting two mighty wars with Rome, the Dacians gave the Legions a bloody nose they would not forget!
To the sound of rasping carynx horns and wild cries, the elite infantry of the Dacian army would surge forward against their invading Roman foe, intimidating them with their wild barbarian appearance and fierce countenance.
